H2Ohio Events Burning River Festival – Aug. 15 On Saturday, August 15, help Cleveland celebrate environmental awareness with great music and a frothy pint of Great Lakes Brewing Company beer during the Great Lakes Burning River Festival. Held at the historic Coast Guard Station at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River, this unique festival features educational exhibitors who share a commitment to eco-friendly, sustainable and locally beneficial practices to help raise awareness of environmental issues affecting the region.Put on by the Great Lakes Brewing Company, the festival features the eco-friendly brewer’s handcrafted beers that are named after local historical figures and events – including Burning River Ale. This year, the Great Lakes Burning River Festival marks the 40th anniversary of the Cuyahoga River catching on fire and its rise to an EPA paradigm of an environmentally sound river.
